That’s when some bold individuals—now sponsors of @ShipAdventureLive—reached out to ProSat Networks for assistance with this innovative project, and ProSat Networks has remained actively involved ever since.

We were confident that we would be successful in being able to stream on-ship cameras via Starlink, but the question was how were we going to manage and configure the live streaming directly from the onboard camera system NVR to YouTube? We figured it out.

This article has all authentic installation photos. The actual installation took place while at anchor in All Saints Bay, Ensenada, Mexico. “The crew either recorded and transmitted all the videos from the vessel to @ShipAdventureLive via Starlink while crossing the Pacific Ocean using a Starlink Maritime Mobile Priority data plan (ocean-bound), or they live-streamed them directly to YouTube via Starlink. There is no audio on this experiment to maximize recording space and time on the 20TB NVR.

This article covers:
Part 3: the camera system upgrade and testing live streams since embarking from Ensenada, journeying across the Pacific Ocean
With references and recaps of:

– Part 1: Marine Camera System Installation (the trial run)

Part 3: The Marine Camera System upgrade completed prior to departure from Mexico:

NVR upgraded to 2 10TB Hard Drives (HDDs) = 20TB of storage total.
Sound deactivated during trial run to max video record time
We also adjusted so only the Bow and Stern Cams are recording in 4K also to save space
From testing we believe we can store video only recordings for up to 7 to 8 weeks (possibly a little more).

Once our team of Starlink installation services techs, who are experience pros at installing Starlink, marine security cameras and marine camera systems, communications devices, entertainment systems, IT networks, advanced WiFi, data cabling and Starlink maritime on private yachts, sailboats, freighters, commercial vessels, and merchant ships, completed this installation, the ship embarked on her journey across the Pacific Ocean. We were all secretly and sometimes not so secretly wishing for big waves or another waterspout as she has experienced in the past (sorry no videos of that one!)

When one thinks about this, to the general public and until now this technology was a sci-fi fantasy concept. Many of us enjoyed while reading fictional books and watching Star Trek (and similar) religiously. It is truly an amazing phenomenon! That LEO Satellite high-speed low-latency broadband internet technology is now a reality and readily available to the general public. Please file this story in the non-fiction section.

Starlink® Maritime for Boats continues to bridge the digital divide. By connecting to high-speed, low-latency LEO (low-Earth-orbit) satellite internet at sea, rivers, lakes and oceans worldwide for vessels such as ships, boats, cruisers, yachts, freighters, steamers, merchant ships (MS).

NOTE: We took these real photos and videos during this installation and journey.
