Our Starlink installation subject matter experts conducted an initial offsite assessment to evaluate the residential property’s general structure and layout. They used satellite imagery and customer-provided onsite photos to identify potential mounting locations, cable routing paths and nearby obstructions that will affect the installation. The following data are gathered:
Result of Initial Offsite Assessment:
– Location: Wheatfield Township, MI
– Property Size: 4,393 sqft
– Floors: Two-story
– Roof Type: Shingle
– Recommended Starlink Equipment: Standard Kit
– Recommended Mounting device: Pivot mount
Current Setup: The client’s home already has current ISP and wanted to be replaced with Starlink High-Performance. DirecTV and another satellite dish installed on the roof, and there is an available cable route where the Starlink High Performance cable (25 meters) can be piggybacked. As per client, this route will be sufficient to reach the client’s home office.
Assessment of Installation Points:
– The initial installation point was planned for the side of the house with two existing satellite dishes. However, to avoid frequency interference and obstructions, we decided to move the installation to the other side of the rooftop, adjacent to the existing satellite dishes.
– The current installation point is located right next to the home office, facing south with no obstructions. This setup allows the cable to pass directly through the attic and into the home office.
Following the offsite assessment, an installation plan is developed for customer review and approval. Once approved, we assisted the customer in ordering the Starlink kit and mounting equipment. Once the equipment is available onsite, we coordinate the schedule for the Starlink installation in Wheatfield Township, MI.
Our Starlink installation team arrived on site to perform the following scope of work:
The installation location for the Starlink Standard dish was selected based on a “Good Experience” rating from the Starlink obstruction test performed by the installer, confirming minimal obstructions and optimal satellite visibility.

Based on the obstructions test results, the team installed the Starlink dish using a pivot mount at the highest elevation near the roof ridge to maximize satellite visibility and minimize obstructions.

Using the cable routing kit, our team able to route the Starlink proprietary cable from the outdoor dish into the indoor Gen 3 WiFi Mesh routers in the home office on 2nd floor and living room on the 1st floor. Connected the Starlink cable and power adaptor to the router.

Once the cable was connected, our team activated the Starlink system. It configured the Gen3 WiFi Mesh Router using the Starlink app with the customer’s preferred network name (SSID) and password. The customer was provided a brief walkthrough of the Starlink app, including how to view the SSID, reset the Wi-Fi password, run speed tests, refresh or reset the Starlink network, and address common user questions related to system operation.
Our team performed a Starlink alignment test to verify that the dish was accurately positioned for optimal satellite connectivity. This process included assessing the dish’s orientation and placement to guarantee a clear sky view and ensure maximum signal strength and performance.

To test the internet performance, the Starlink speed test is carried out after 20 minutes of the installation. In most cases, Starlink may take up to 12 hours to synchronize fully.
